The main change is that now instead of sewing the pieces together, I get to crochet them together and I much prefer a hook to a needle. Also, as someone who watches a weird amount of cookie decorating videos, I wanted to replicate the flooding a bit better, so the cookie edges could be seen. How do you think I did? This, right here, is SO freeing. Crocheting used This, right here, is SO freeing. Crocheting used to bring me so much joy. Content creating does…not. I am in a busy mom season, and I’m not against putting myself together, and looking more professional, but I do not always have time. And I’ve never been a frequent make up wearer to begin with. I’m working a somewhat messy job outside the home, I’m coaching basketball, when home I’m cleaning or making food. If I have a moment between those things, when I am not chauffeuring my kids around, I’d like to work on this business. And I can’t tell you how debilitating it feels to have to think, “nope, you don’t look good enough for the camera right now, so you can’t record or make content.” Who says? 🤷🏼‍♀️ So as I sat here last night, in between all the things, and when it occurred to me that I make my OWN rules about the space I want to create in my little corner of the internet, this trend immediately came to mind. 😂 If you need permission, here it is. You don’t have to fake it to make it. Your space shouldn’t be a place of discomfort for you, where you don’t even feel like yourself. And you shouldn’t shy away from sharing your art because you’re comparing yourself to younger, trendier, thinner, creators. Be free my fellow creatives!
