from hoops to hooks: the story behind ekayg
Once an avid basketball player and college athlete, I never would have imagined a world where I was a stay at home mom, crocheting, sewing, and blogging, yet here we are!
I played basketball for The University at Buffalo, and in 2004 my career ended prematurely due to an unexpected injury. I loved basketball, and it was a really difficult time for me. Strangely, for reasons I do not remember, a friend came over to teach me how to crochet. My grandmother always crocheted when I was young, so I was excited to learn. Crochet was so relaxing. It was a strange transition from basketball, but it gave me a sense of productivity, worth, and creative challenge. As a competitor, challenge is like water to my daily life!
Ever since, I have challenged myself to learn new stitches and new crafts and create new and unique designs for others to enjoy as well!
