The Mouse Hand Puppet pattern can operate as a stand-alone pattern! He is such a cute mouse, and his tail makes me so happy! The mouse in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is such a poor offended creature, having to suffer talk of Alice’s cat Dinah, stories of a rat terrier, and the general bordem of everyone listening to his dry tale. For the mouse’s part in this story, there are so many fun plays on words!
Maybe you’re not here for the Wonderland Crochet-a-Long, but are just looking for a mouse hand puppet. That’s fine too! I hope you enjoy him!
“I daresay it’s a French mouse, come over with William the Conqueror.” ~Alice

Size: This is one size, fitting child through adult, but if you wish to make it smaller for a smaller child to play with, simply tighten the gauge or go down a hook size.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Before sewing onto the face, create the nose in black, and the teeth in white below. Use black yarn to sew the nose over the top sts of the snout. Sew about 8 to 10 strands over the top (the sc, ch 1, sc part) and back through the ch-1 sp below to create a triangular nose. Knot off, behind the snout. Then make the teeth.
Teeth in White, make 2
Ch 2, turn and sl st into the first ch, fasten off, leaving a bit of a tail for sewing. Sew each tail of each tooth into the snout between rnds 2 and 3, at the bottom between the 3 dc on each side. Knot the ends off inside the snout to attach them. I did not sew all the way around each tooth.
After adding the teeth, I used the longest of the black tails left behind the snout to sew the lines. Sew down from the nose to the sl st at the center of the teeth. Bring yarn back through slightly lower than the teeth and off to the side. Then back up above the double crochet sts of rnd 2 toward the outside, and retrace your steps to cover each spot with black yarn. Repeat on the other side too. Continue to sew the snout down to the face.
Sew the snout onto the front center of the face with the top point of the snout at rnd 9, and the bottom of the snout along rnd 15, right between the arms. Knot off and weave in ends.
