The new Despicable Me movie came out last week, and I could not resist making a pocket pal minion. 🙂 These guys are perfectly palm sized for little ones, and you can easily attach a fun lobster clasp to turn them into a zipper charm or back pack pal for your child’s back pack!
Meet my friend Vacay Vinny! If you have been following along on my Facebook or Instagram pages, maybe you have seen him as he has chronicled our vacation week! He has been a fun and adventurous sort to have around, as any minion would be!
Worsted weight yarn in yellow and blue, and small amounts of black, white, and gray.

dec – decrease, work 2 sts together into 1 sts
Notes: These patterns are worked in rnds from the head down, with no joining. Use a st marker as you work to mark the beginning of each rnd. Color changes can be made, by pulling next color through the 2 loops to finish off the previous stitch. As a free pattern, this pattern has not been tested, but is accurate to the best of my abilities. Please let me know if you find any errors!

Beginning with white, make magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring; 6 sts
Rnd 2: in gray, inc in each st around; 12 sts
Fasten off white and gray, and add a fleck of black in the center with tapestry needle. Below is a great tutorial I found for a simple french knot. Only wrap the yarn around the needle once or twice though, for a smaller fleck. Sew on your eye, on the center of the face, over the black stripe, and you have your own mini minion!
I’m going to make this and maybe one in pink as well
