First, you will need invitations. I found this great site, where you can download a blank invitation! Then, you can just use any photo editing tool to add the text, and print as many as you’d like!
This is the one we used. There’s plenty of space, to the left, where you can write all your party details. Check out the website HERE for more invitation options.
No Super Mario DIY Party is complete without a super fun cake. This is a cake I am pretty proud of! I used a basic vanilla cake recipe. I found some $4 square baking pans at Wal-Mart, and baked SIX squares to layer into a cube, cutting the centers out of 4 of them (those were delicious).
Also, I went with marshmallow fondant, instead of smoothing out a buttercream frosting. Hindsight is 20/20! Afterwards, I realized instead of rolling all the fondant out into a circle…to place over a square (palm to face moment), I should have cut out square panels to fit onto the sides and top. That way it wouldn’t have rounded the top, but the kids loved it anyway! And I had been in the kitchen all day. Cut me some slack! 🙂

Lastly, we had to have some parting gifts for the kids who came to celebrate with us! I found these printable boxes HERE. I found a few other printable boxes on Pinterest, but these were my favorites. They were a little smaller than others, but they provided the option of a folded lid which could be opened and closed back up. Others needed to be glued or taped shut on all sides to keep their shape. For closing these, I used double sided tape. It was sturdy enough for what I was doing, and I didn’t have to wait for glue to dry.
These were also the perfect size for all those tiny Super Mario Zipper Clips I made for our guests!
