Every single Christmas I find myself with small gifts I’m not quite sure how to wrap. You know the ones I’m talking about; the small trinkets, jewelry, Christmas ornaments…things that didn’t already come in a box for easy wrapping. Or maybe they already come with in a small box, but you know that people never keep boxes around, and/or you’d like them to have a nice soft place to store their beautiful peice when it’s not in use. The Velvet Draw String Gift Bag is the perfect solution to these problems!
This is the softest, and simplest little satchel for just such a gift, guys, and I’m so in love with it, I knew I would have to share!

Materials:
Bernat Velvet Yarn
Crochet Hook, F – 3.75mm
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Terms and abbreviations to know:
magic ring
st, sts – stitch, stitches
ch, chs – chain, chains
rnd, rnds – round, rounds
sc – single crochet
inc – increase, work 2 sts in 1 st
dec – decrease, connect 2 sts together to make 1 st
sp, sps – space, spaces
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
Notes:
The velvet draw string gift bag is worked in the rnd, from the bottom up, with continuous stitching, and no joining until specified at the end. I have written it out in 3 different sizes, but the pattern is very easily adjustable to suit your needs. You can also just increase the hook size for larger bags! If you are not familiar with working with velvet yarn, it can be tricky finding your stitch. Honestly, you will feel them more than you will see them, knowing they come right after one another tightly. Always use your stitch marker to make the end of each rnd, and always count each rnd out, to be sure you didn’t miss any stithes along the way.
Velvet Draw String Gift Bag
Small
Begin with magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring; 6 sts
Rnd 2: inc in each st around; 12 sts
Rnd 3: (inc, sc in next st)6x; 18 sts
Rnds 4-10: sc in each st around; 18 sts
Rnd 11: (dec, sc in next 4 sts)3x; 15 sts
Rnd 12: (ch 1, sk next st, sc in next st)7x, sl st into last st; 7 sts, 7 ch-1 sps, 1 sl st
Rnd 13: (sc, hdc, sc) together into each ch 1 space around, sl st into first st to join; 21 sts, 1 sl st
Do not fasten off. Continue making the chain for the draw string.
Ch 30
Cut yarn, leaving about a 5 inch tail. Do not yet fasten off, but instead, pull you loop up a bit so that your chain doesn’t come undone during assembly.
Using that end loop, pull your chain through each ch 1 space below your last rnd, going from the inside to outside the bag on the first on, then from the outside to the inside of the bag on the next one. Do this all the way around, and then go back through the first ch 1 space you began with again, so that you finish with your chain on the inside of the bag. Tighten your final ch around your hook again, and then sl st back into the last rnd of the bag to create the loop. The bag can then be sinched by pulling one side of the loop. Fasten off, and weave in ends.

Though the bags are relatively small, I am still really happy to have seen this! How I wish I am creative enough to make all these stuff because I now myself really well and I don’t think that it is still within my skills. But if I will invest time on doing the said stuff, there’s indeed a higher chance of me learning the craft.
