I am back with a new scrubby design! The Bunny Scrubby is perfect for Easter!! And yes, I know that’s only a few days away, but you won’t believe how easily this little guy works up! You could be a dozen between now and Sunday, I promise! Made with Yarn Bee’s Scrub-Ology Scrub It yarn, these are great little soap basket scrubbies for bath time. You can use them to hold a fun soap for Easter, or just add some candy to it for their basket. It will still make a great bath toy, no matter what your initial use for it might be!

You might remember the Ducky, Unicorn, and Dinosaur scrubbies, previously published here on the blog. Those will work up just as quickly, and make for great Easter basket fun!

Some FAQs about the Scrubbies

Can they be washed and dried?

This depends on the yarn you use. If you use cotton or acrylic, then yes! If you use the recommended yarn in this pattern for the scrubbies, then no. They can be washed, and then hang to dry.

How long do they last when used in baths?

This is yet to be determined! I will update this after my daughter wears her own out. We use it multiple times before washing though, by simpling hanging it up to dry after her bath.

Will the scrubby lather like a loofah, for washing?

The lather is definitely not as good as you would have with a loofah. Admitedly, these are more of just a fun bath toy, than really good for washing or scrubbing, but my daughter has enjoyed hers!

Are they too rough on the skin?

This yarn feels soft in the skein, much like a loofah. Then when it is stitched up, it becomes stiff and somewhat scratchy. No worries! It softens up nicely once wet! It never dries quite as stiff again, after the first bath, but still holds a little of it’s shape.

Do they float in the tub?

Not really. Maybe only for a very short time. The head will tip forward, and once the yarn becomes wet through, it won’t float at all.

The body of the Bunny Scrubby is completely in one piece, worked from the bottom up, in the rnd, with no joining. The ears are made as part of the last rnd, without ever taking the yarn off the hook! The back is left open, with no stuffing, to place the soap in for clean, creative fun! Use it as a candy basket, a scrubby, or a bath toy!

Using your black cotton yarn and tapestry needle, sew the eyes onto the face, at about rnd 14. Each eye should span approximately 2 sts, with about 3 to 4 sts between them.

Knot yarn inside the head and trim. You are welcome to try to weave these cotton ends a bit inside the head, but it is not absolutely necessary.
