August 21st marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Dirty Dancing. I am, quite possibly, one of the biggest Dirty Dancing fans you’ll ever meet. I feel like I should have made myself a “Baby” doll a long time ago.
This pattern is NOT the full pattern. This is a FREE add-on to my Bella Ballerina Lovey Doll pattern. If you already have that pattern, you can make this Baby likeness at no additional cost.
Materials:
1/2 yard light or baby pink fleece
Light or baby pink yarn to match fleece as closely as possible

Bangs
**bangs are worked by making a series of ringlets, attached back to the last rnd. Each ringlet is made with all increases into the chs.

4. You are turning, and working the bangs into the part of rnd 3 you just did.

5. Each curl is just a little longer than the last. All are worked with all increases, and attached back to next sts of rnd 3.

6. You can really add as many ringlets as you’d like, down the side, and just adjust how you complete rnd 3!
|
7. Right side facing, reattach yarn where you placed your st marker, and begin to finish rnd 3.
|
Continue to complete rnd 3 by attaching yarn back into the st where you left your last st marker, to the top left of the bangs. You will make 2 more curls on this side as well.
Continuing rnd 3: (sc, hdc, ch 1, hdc, sc) in same st as joining, sk next st, sl st in next 3 sts, ch 5, in in 2nd ch from hook, inc in next 3 chs, sl st into next 2 sts of rnd 2, ch 7, inc in 2nd ch from hook, inc in remaining 5 chs, [(sc, hdc, ch 1, hdc, sc) in next st, sk next st, sl st in next 3 sts]3x
Fasten off, leaving a very long tail for sewing the hair onto the head.
Continuing rnd 3: (sc, hdc, ch 1, hdc, sc) in same st as joining, sk next st, sl st in next 3 sts, ch 5, in in 2nd ch from hook, inc in next 3 chs, sl st into next 2 sts of rnd 2, ch 7, inc in 2nd ch from hook, inc in remaining 5 chs, [(sc, hdc, ch 1, hdc, sc) in next st, sk next st, sl st in next 3 sts]3x
Fasten off, leaving a very long tail for sewing the hair onto the head.

8. In completing rnd 3, you will add a couple of ringlets to the other side as well.

Sewing the hair onto the head was a little intimidating at first! But have no fear. Just dive right in! Center it in the back, and pin into place. Shape and place the curls as you go around. You don’t want to sew them down completely, but let them dangle a little in places as well.

9. Get your hair in place where you’d like it.
|
10. Make sure it is centered in the back, and pin in place if need be.
|
|
11. Sew the hair along the bottom first, going over each st, and attaching to the top of the shirt or shoulders.
|
12. When you turn to go up the sides, do not fold the hair over to sew on the sts, but leave hair open around the shoulders.
|
|
13. Sew the hair right along the neckline.
|
14. Again, leaving the curls out, sew the back of the hair up the neckline to the cheek.
|
|
15. As you get to the cheek, begin to fold the curls over a bit, to attach to the face.
|
16. As you round the cheek, begin thinking about where you want your curls to fall! Start pulling them down, and getting ready to attach them to the head.
|
|
17. I sewed the curls down one at a time, while also sewing down the last rnd to the scalp.
|
Sewing the curls down isn’t as hard as it may look at first. I really on sewed them down at the tops, so the rest of the curl could fall, but you can play around with yours and see how you like it! You also want to make sure they are good and secure if you are making for a baby or very small child.
